Hey gang, I am computer literate, so excuse my ignorance here but I just wanted to say that I liked that idea on Liam's game site where, instead of downloading the one big file "superliam.exe" we had the option of downloading smaller files (good for dialups sake) then we could combine them all together running a bat file to then create the exe program. Is this sort of thing hard to do? I'm curious as to why other game authors may not have used them. I mean this way we could even probably get away with downloading the bavisoft games instead of ordering them on CD.
well, bat files are made up with a program called "split it" its free. You can find it at www.blindsoftware.com. You divide the big file into an amount of determined mb. For example it would be great in hotmail to send a 5 mb file into 6 or 7 files, and then run the bat file that converts those files into a small ones. I would like to say it to bsc games, hunter, troopanum and blast chamber are allmost the same size, 53, 54 and 55 mb. However, pipe 1.0 is no longer there. I downloaded it just in time! it was 10 MB.
oh OK cool thanks for that! didn't quite know what it was all about exactly. :)
the reaosn the bavisoft games won't be split up for download is as far as I know they have no piracy protection so anyoen could download the game and pass it around.
